Brett Tietjen graduated from Garden City High School in 1998 where he won a New York State Championship in 1997. Ranked #4 nationally, the 1997 team was undefeated. The 1998 team won the Nassau County Championship. Brett earned All-County Honors at the midfield his senior year as well as the Nolan Award for most dedicated lacrosse player on the team. Brett went on to play at the University of Massachusetts and was one of three freshmen to play in every game. He finished out his career at Hofstra earning a Bachelors in Business Administration in 2002. Brett was the assistant coach at New York Maritime for three years (2003 -2005) before returning to school to earn his Masters in Communication Arts from NYIT. During this time he played for the famed Long Island Hofstra post collegiate club team, earning All Conference in 2006. He also coached the Westport Connecticut U15 and IAS Select team before moving to the West Coast. In 2013 Staples HS was runner up in the Connecticut state final for the first time in school history, with the senior class being Brett’s former U15 team.
Since relocating to California Brett Tietjen has worked with many Youth and High School programs including US Lacrosse, Starz, Adrenaline, and Silverfin and he is currently the Defensive Coordinator at Loyola HS. At Loyola High School they have won the SoCal Southern Section CIF boys lacrosse championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
